Decoding Culture 2010-11
A glimpse into my master's project titled "Decoding Culture," which explored how design can intervene in the gradual shift from cultural diversity toward homogeneity. The project employed situationist techniques to reestablish focus on culture by highlighting cultural idiosyncrasies that initiate dialogue and connections between those who relate to them. As a design intervention, underlying cultural characteristics of New Delhi and Singapore were presented in an "official" signage format. The signs aimed to make people consider the details and meanings within their surroundings. The project culminated in an exhibition featuring the physical signs, a New Delhi intervention video, giveaways, a process journal documenting the research, and an inspiration blog.
